MBSR and MBSR for Couples

Mindfulness can be described as a basic human quality, a capacity we all have for learning to pay attention to whatever is happening in our life--this allows a greater sense of connection to our life inwardly and outwardlly.

MBSR for Couples is based on the understanding that "when I am more relaxed and present for myself, I can be more relaxed and available for my partner."

MBSR was developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in 1979 as a practical, scientifically-supported program which allows you to take better care of yourself by exploring and understanding the interplay of mind and body and mobilizing your own inner resources for coping, growing, and healing.

Interesting enough, mindfulness is not something that you have to “get,” purchase, or acquire. It is already within you—a deep internal resource available and patiently waiting to be released and used in the service of your personal learning, growing, and healing.

Over the past 35 years hundreds of studies at medical centers all over the world suggest that training in mindfulness and MBSR can positively and often profoundly affect participants' ability to reduce medical symptoms and psychological distress while learning to live life more fully.  MBSR is now offered in over 200 medical centers, hospitals and clinics around the world—including such leading integrative medical centers as Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine and the Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center for Integrative Medicine.

The Eight-Week MBSR Training Course provides an introduction and support for mindfulness practice in a safe and structured environment.  As a particicpant you will be receive the tools and support  to cultivate life-long skills that can help you maximize your life, even when facing stress, illness and pain.  Small classes meet weekly for 2.5 hours and include instruction, discussion, periods of formal and informal meditation practices, gentle mindful movement exercises and weekly homework assignments.  A one-day retreat, "Day of Mindfulness" is also included.

Our eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course is designed to help you meet the ordinary and extraordinary challenges of life with balance and peace of mind:
