In Shambhala Art, we learn mostly through exercises that make us aware and make us explore and discover the creative process:

Opening the mind, with contemplative exercise exploring our capacity to be present, Clearing perception, tuning into ourselves and our world through our sense perceptions and inner perception, insight and intuition, removing the filters of habitual patterns, and, Creating and expressing, in structured and unstructured approaches, with form and without form or rules. Using painting, movement, object arranging, voice, and writing—the exercises are designed to help with finding your own voice, your unique mode of expression.

Art has long been an expression of the very best society has to offer. Shambhala Art provides an opportunity for artists and for people to see their life as ‘art in everyday life’. In many traditions, artists have trained not only in their discipline, but they also have trained their minds in awareness, confidence, and compassion. Shambhala Art allows us to experience the profound teachings on art developed by the great Tibetan meditation teacher, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

The entire Shambhala Art Program is a 5-part introduction to the dharma art teachings of the Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

Part One:  Coming to Your Senses

Part Two:  Seeing Things as They Are

Part Three:  The Creative Process

Part Four:  The Power of Display

Part Five:  Art in Everyday Life & The Feast of the Elements

These teachings unlock a non-conceptual sense of expression that is available to all. Experiential exercises bring us deeper understanding of ourselves as powerfully creative beings. Trungpa Rinpoche says of artists, “You could play a tremendous role in developing peace throughout the world.”  These workshops build our capacity to do so.

Tuition covers all workshop materials.
